Rick Mikula, The Butterfly Guy

Generally acknowledged as the "Father" of the butterfly release industry. Rick has arguably done more than almost anyone to make the butterfly release industry a success. As he crosses the country doing programs, seminars, workshops and presentations, he has shared his love for butterflies and butterfly releases with many people of all ages.

Rick is currently on the Board of Directors for the Center for Landscape Design & Stewardship, where in 2009 they constructed an 88 acre community garden to Rick's design, with the centerpiece being a butterfly garden that surrounds a gazebo that will be used for weddings and concerts. There is also a walking, biking trail along the perimeter so that Relay for Life and other organizations can hold their events there and release butterflies into the butterfly garden from the gazebo. In addition, Rick offers an 8-week summer gardening program for children and teaches a weekly entomology class.

A Safe Haven for Newborns
After the Tragic loss of his dear wife Gloria of 31 years who was involved in a car accident caused by a speeding driver, Nick Silverio wanted to continue her memory and spirit through charitable works. He researched and found that the Florida Legislature had passed a Safe Haven Law in July, 2000. Nick thought what an immeasurable work of goodness to help save little lives, the most innocent and helpless among us and knew this would be his new purpose in life. So, he created the Gloria M. Silverio Foundation, a 501(C)3 Florida not for profit organization and named the first major project “A Safe Haven for Newborns” in response to the tragedy of newborn abandonment in Florida.

The Foundation started in Miami and today through a grass roots approach and our public awareness efforts, they now reach across all 67 Florida Counties. They have “Partnered” with the Florida Fire Chiefs Association, Emergency Medical Services, many Hospitals and many other organizations and agencies in the State.

Magical Butterfly Memories, a butterfly release company stated by Nick Silverio, supports the work of the Foundation.

Founder,
The Molly Bish Foundation

The Molly Bish Foundation
On the morning of June 27, 2000 Magi Bish drove her 16-year-old daughter, Molly, to her Life Guard post at a pond in rural western Massachusetts. When swimmers arrived minutes later, the only traces of Molly were her towel, lunch, water bottle, sandals, a police radio and an open first aid kit. It soon became apparent that Molly was the victim of abduction by a predator. After three years, the extensive search for Molly came to a heartbreaking end; Molly's remains were found on a remote wooded hill side just 5 miles from where she had been abducted and 2 1/2 miles from her home. There are suspects and a Grand Jury has been appointed. As of yet no arrests have been made.

Within months of Molly's disappearance, Magi and John Bish established the Molly Bish Foundation and "Life Guards Center" an organization that is devoted to promoting child safety through education and prevention. To date, the foundation has distributed over 125,000 complimentary child identification kits that contain a photograph and professional fingerprints that can be used to help locate a missing child. In addition to hosting child safety events at local schools, day care centers and community sponsored events, Magi and John established the first Missing Children's Day vigil in Massachusetts. Magi and John are members of Team Hope, AMECO, serve on the Board of Directors of RadKids and have received innumerable commendations.

Wings of Hope, with immeasurable help from breeders and others around the world, provided 350 Monarchs for a WOH butterfly release at the funeral of Molly Bish.   Since that time, Magi Bish has helped to spread the word about the mission of Wings of Hope and remains a lifelong Honorary Member of Wings of Hope.
